Penn Yan, NY — On October 10th, the Penn Yan Rotary Club gathered at the Lakeside Country Club to recognize and celebrate Greyson Hathway, an eighth-grader at Penn Yan Middle School, as the Student of the Month. This monthly tradition by the club aims to honor exceptional Penn Yan students who embody the values of the Rotary Four Way Test, emphasizing truth, fairness, goodwill, and beneficial actions.

Greyson Hathway was joined by his lacrosse coaches, Chris Redington and Kevin McNally, as well as his parents, Marjorie and Jeff Hathway, during the special luncheon in his honor. Hathway’s athletic prowess shines in lacrosse, football, and basketball, but his dedication extends far beyond the playing field.

Hathway is actively involved in 4-H, where he works with chickens, rabbits, and horses. He lends his time to the 4-H Dairy Bar at the County Fair and generously volunteers for projects at Clinton Crest. In his school community, Greyson is renowned as a friendly and valued friend. He extends his kindness by assisting fellow 4-H members with their projects outside of school.

A bright student, Hathway excels in social studies and math. Looking forward, he anticipates joining and contributing to the Future Farmers of America next school year. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Penn Yan Rotary Club President Carl Schwartz presented Greyson Hathway with a framed Penn Yan Rotary Club Student of the Month certificate, along with a $25 Longs’ Cards and Books gift card.

This heartwarming Student of the Month program is made possible through the generous support of Community Bank, Bank of the Finger Lakes, and Lyons National Bank, all partnering with the Penn Yan Rotary Club to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Penn Yan’s remarkable youth.
