Trooper Sperr was stationed in Horseheads NY with Troop E

From the NYS Police,

Trooper Andrew J. Sperr, 33, was killed March 1, 2006, shot by two subjects later determined to be involved in a bank robbery in the town of Big Flats, Chemung County.

An investigation determined Trooper Sperr was fired upon as he approached the subjects’ vehicle. Trooper Sperr returned gunfire, hittng both suspects before they left in a second vehicle, staged there for their getaway. Trooper Sperr was shot multiple times and was on the ground when the fatal round struck him under his belt and vest.

At the time of his death, Trooper Sperr, a 10-year veteran of the State Police was assigned to SP Horseheads in Troop E.
