From Steuben County, Braedyn Northrup reacts to the announcement she has been selected as the 2024 Tyrtle Beach Jumper
Braedyn Northrup, the New York State Soccer Championship Coach and a teacher at Haverling High School, has agreed to take the plunge May 3 during the 2024 Tyrtle Beach fundraiser.

The annual fundraiser for area youth groups began in 1992 when radio personality Dave Taylor-Smith suggested listeners go to Tyrtle Beach on Lake Salubria instead of townspeople’s annual trek to Myrtle Beach, NC.
Since then, the event has featured a jumper, enlisted from local civic and government agencies, taking the plunge into the freezing waters of the lake to raise money for youth activities.
In 32 years, the event has raised nearly $800,000.
