In an effort to address the significant decline in volunteer firefighters across New York State, the Firefighter’s Association of the State of New York has launched the “Fire Up NY Red” campaign. This initiative aims to show support for local volunteers and highlight the importance of their role in emergency services.

Yates County, where volunteers play a crucial role in emergency response, is actively participating in the campaign. Residents and businesses are encouraged to light up their homes or establishments in red during the next week as a symbol of support for these dedicated volunteers.

Volunteer firefighters and ambulance services in the area are always looking for new recruits. Those interested in joining the ranks of these local heroes are encouraged to visit their local fire department for more information.

Mark your calendars for April 13, 2024, which is Recruit NY day. On this day, many fire departments will have open houses, welcoming the community and providing information and applications for those interested in volunteering.

Let’s show our appreciation for the selfless individuals who serve our communities by participating in the “Fire Up NY Red” campaign and considering joining our local volunteer emergency services.
