Steuben County School children to visit local dairy farm

The Damin Family Farm in Prattsburgh will host students on June 4 & 5

From Steuben County,

BATH  — Hundreds of school children in Steuben County will have an opportunity to learn more about dairy farms next week through tours of the Damin Family Farm in Prattsburgh set for 10 am on June 4 and June 5.

The event sponsored by the Steuben County Cornell Cooperative Extension (SCCCE) includes 10-minute-long stations set to begin at 10 am, other educational opportunities and lunch.

“Dairy and farming has historically been an integral part of Steuben County and remains so today,” said Tess McKinley SCCCE Executive Director. “This is a great opportunity to show our students just how important it is.”

Funding for the event is provided by Upstate Farms, Steuben County Farm Bureau, Prattsburgh Marketplace, and NYS Dairy in the Classroom. 

Organizations expected to be present at the event include the Steuben County Farm Bureau, Prattsburgh Library, Prattsburgh FFA, SNAP Ed SFL, 4-H, DEC, and Empire Livestock LLC.
