ALBANY – Assemblyman Joseph M. Giglio (R,C-Gowanda) announced a total of $60,000 in grants to support libraries in Allegany, Cattaraugus and Steuben counties.

Assemblyman Giglio approved the release of $30,000 to the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System and $30,000 and the Southern Tier Library Association. The library systems support 32 public libraries across the 148th Assembly District.

“As information and resource hubs, our public libraries provide essential services that help our communities grow and thrive,” Assemblyman Giglio said. “We saw how vital our public libraries are to our communities during the pandemic. Our libraries need updated technology and new books materials in their catalogue to meet the needs of library patrons, children, students and adults.”

Brian Hildreth, Executive Director of the Southern Tier Library System, thanked Assemblyman Giglio for his continued support.

“Assemblyman Giglio has helped our libraries in Allegany and Steuben counties both through funding and legislation over the years, and this specific grant will enable our libraries to enhance services to our community members through expanded material collections and programming. It is a wonderful opportunity,” he said.

Janice DeKoff, Executive Director of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System, said the grant will provide much-needed support for libraries in Cattaraugus County.

“The Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System and all of the libraries in Cattaraugus County are grateful for Assemblyman Giglio’s unwavering support of libraries. The Grant in Aid funds that he has dedicated will help our libraries support their communities for the betterment of Cattaraugus County,” she said.
