Join Sheriff Jim Allard on June 21st at 1pm as Steuben County unveils “Emilee’s Challenge,” a powerful tool against distracted driving.
Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard announces the completion of the “Emilee’s Challenge” educational trailer. This trailer has been developed as an educational tool to demonstrate the dangers of distracted, impaired or intoxicated driving and riding with an impaired or intoxicated driver. The trailer uses multiple stimuli from two fatal crash scenes to educate our youth and our drivers on the fatal consequences associated with distracted, impaired or intoxicated driving.
The trailer will be displayed at a press conference on Friday June 21st at 1pm at the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, 7007 Rumsey Street Extension, Bath, New York.
This trailer is the culmination of over three years work from collaborators and supporters of the Sheriff’s Office. It will be used to educate our students near prom and graduation times and will be on display at the Steuben County Fair.
“Emilee’s Challenge” is an educational program designed to honor Emilee Rawleigh, who died at the age of 21 in a car crash in Steuben County. She was not wearing a seat belt and distracted her driver. Her mother, Kim Clark, presents at community and school events speaking on the dangers of distracted driving.
