The “Wall That Heals” will make its arrival in Penn Yan on August 6, accompanied by a motorcycle escort and ceremonial events.
On August 6, the “Wall That Heals” will arrive in Penn Yan at approximately 3:30 PM, following a motorcycle escort. The escort, featuring around 350 motorcycles, will start from the Bass Pro parking lot at the Finger Lakes Mall in Auburn at 2:00 PM. The procession will travel along Routes 5&20 through Seneca Falls, Waterloo, and Geneva, before heading towards Hall and Penn Yan via County Road 5 and Route 14A.
Upon reaching Penn Yan, the escort will proceed down Liberty Street, turn onto Lake Street, and then onto Mace Street. In a special tribute, Mace Street will be renamed “Vietnam Veteran’s Drive” for the duration of the visit. Douglas Gibbs, Director of Yates County Veterans Services Agency, invites the public and local businesses to show their support and welcome the escort.
The “Wall That Heals” will be open to the public 24 hours a day from August 7 through August 11, with several scheduled events, including a Wreath Laying Ceremony, Welcome Home Ceremony, and Candlelight Ceremony for Agent Orange Awareness Day. The exhibit will close with a closing ceremony at 2:00 PM on August 11.
