The Canandaigua Police Department has released new details regarding a recent dog attack that severely injured a man and his son. The incident, which took place on South Main Street on August 29, has led to the arrest of two local residents.
Casey F. Murphy, 27, and Madison J. Herendeen, 26, face multiple charges including two counts of third-degree assault and one count of second-degree reckless endangerment. Authorities allege that Murphy and Herendeen permitted their dog to roam unsupervised, which led to the attack. It is also reported that the pair were aware of the dog’s previous biting incidents.
The dog involved is now under the care of the Ontario County Humane Society. Murphy and Herendeen have been issued appearance tickets and are expected to appear in Canandaigua City Court. Meanwhile, the victims are continuing their recovery from the attack.
