Former Addison Clerk Surrenders Pension to Repay Stolen Funds

A former Addison Village clerk has been sentenced to prison and ordered to forfeit her pension after admitting to embezzling over $1 million.

Former Addison Village clerk has agreed to forfeit her retirement pension as part of a plea deal stemming from a multi-year embezzlement scheme. The woman, 56, was sentenced to three to nine years in state prison after admitting to stealing over $1 million from the village.

The clerk, who pleaded guilty to first-degree corrupting the government, had initially faced 192 felony charges, including grand larceny and money laundering. However, as part of the plea agreement, many of these charges were dropped.

To help repay the village, the clerk agreed to forfeit her $1,920 monthly pension. This money will be used to make restitution payments of $450,000.

The clerk’s scheme, which spanned nearly two decades from 2004 to 2023, involved manipulating financial records, giving herself unauthorized raises, and misappropriating funds, including checks from the Addison Central School District. Her actions were discovered during a state comptroller’s investigation, which led to her resignation in March 2023 and subsequent arrest.
