A sigh of relief has washed over Steuben County as it has been confirmed that local firefighters will not be deployed to assist with the ongoing wildfires in Orange County.
Tim Marshall, Director of Public Safety for Steuben County, announced this morning that the majority of the fires in Orange County are now under control, reaching a containment level of 85-90%. This progress, coupled with the deployment of a specialized “Hot Shot” crew from Montana, has significantly reduced the need for additional firefighting resources from New York State.
Marshall expressed gratitude for the initial readiness of local firefighters to aid in the firefighting efforts. However, with the situation in Orange County stabilizing, the immediate need for their deployment has diminished.
