A Wayne County corrections officer was recognized for his heroic actions in saving the life of an inmate during a January 2022 incident at the Wayne County Jail.
Corrections Officer Jon Johnville was presented with a Lifesaving Award by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. As the first responder to the inmate in distress, C.O. Johnville’s quick thinking and decisive actions were credited with saving the individual’s life.
This incident highlights the critical role corrections officers play in ensuring the safety and well-being of those in their custody. The Sheriff’s Office Employee Recognition Program, established in 2023, aims to honor such exceptional service within the department.
