Driver cited for multiple violations following early-morning incident.
A Penn Yan motorist has been ticketed after reportedly striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk early Monday morning. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Avenue and Main Street, where authorities say Emma Scharping was driving westbound when her vehicle collided with a pedestrian using the crosswalk.
Emergency responders treated the victim on-site for a minor elbow injury.
In addition to being cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian, Scharping was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. She is scheduled to appear in village court at a later date to address the violations.
