Patrick F. O’Donnell, 77, Andover

Patrick F. O’Donnell, 77 passed away on Wednesday (February 5, 2025) at Wellsville Manor Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Pat was born on June 10, 1947 in Wellsville to Joseph A. and Mary L. (Ciarantini) O’Donnell. He was a 1965 graduate of Wellsville Central School and later served in the United States Air Force. On March 4, 2006, in the living room of their home in Andover, he married Debbie S. Horton, who survives.

Pat began his working career at Dresser-Rand Corporation in Wellsville where he worked on turbines. Following that experience, he is best known as the owner of The Blarney Stone in Andover for the next 21 years. He later worked for Daniel Deming, executing right of ways for National Fuel and finished out his career with Otis Eastern in Wellsville, where he was a sandblaster; retiring in 2016.

In addition to his wife, Pat is survived by a son, Richard O’Donnell of Daytona Beach, Fla.; three step-children, Tera Elias, Tammy (Matt) Kinnicutt and Jeremy (Estelle) Elias; five grandchildren, Felicia (James) Worthington, Brendan O’Donnell, Preston Kinnicutt, Chase Kinnicutt and Riley McMichael; two great-grandchildren; four nieces and nephews, Mary Jo Butler, Terry Baker, Bill Baker and Veronica Lyons and several grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne (Mickey) Baker.

Pat loved racing and was a big NASCAR fan. He raced cars, go-karts or anything else with wheels on it. Starting with a couple pieces of steel he made his own hot rod, for which he was very proud. Pat was thrilled to pass on his love of racing to his son and grandson. In his younger days, sports were a big part of his life where he excelled in football and baseball and later took up golfing.

Pat was fun loving, clever and happy-go-lucky all rolled together. He developed a lot of friends through the years at The Blarney Stone. He was a family man and family was very important to him. Pat also loved dogs and cats. It was his dog, Sam Dog that introduced him to Debbie. One day he got out of the house and was barking at this lady out for a walk. Pat came out to stop the commotion and ended up inviting this lady in to see the house. And the rest, as we say, is history.

There will be a time of visitation on Saturday (February 15) from 1-3 p.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Wellsville/Scio followed by a gathering at the Wellsville American Legion Hall. A grave side service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellsville in the spring at a time to be determined with full military honors. His ashes will be laid to rest beside his parents.
