A 30-year-old man from Bath, New York, is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly assaulting and robbing a woman in the Town of Bath earlier this week.
According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on April 29 to reports of a woman screaming for help. Upon arrival, they arrested Andrew M. Machuga, of State Route 415, who is accused of repeatedly striking the victim, choking her, and forcibly stealing property from her.
The victim was treated at the scene by emergency medical services and released.

Machuga was charged with second-degree robbery, a class C felony; third-degree assault; and criminal obstruction of breathing. He was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Court and is currently being held on the felony charges.
Sheriff Jim Allard expressed gratitude to the New York State Police for their assistance in the arrest.
Machuga’s booking records indicate he was taken into custody at 2:03 p.m. on April 29. He is described as 6 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.
As of now, no further details about the incident have been released. The investigation is ongoing.
