Elderly driver ticketed after Starkey two-car crash leaves Corning woman with serious injuries Saturday morning.
An elderly Dundee man was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way following a two-car accident on State Route 14 in the town of Starkey on Saturday morning, which resulted in serious injuries to a Corning woman.
According to a press release from the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 AM when 80-year-old Peter Levatino, of Dundee, was driving southbound on Route 14. Authorities stated that Levatino attempted to make a left turn and collided with a northbound vehicle driven by 50-year-old Belynda Dalbeck, of Corning.
The collision caused Dalbeck’s vehicle to roll over, and she reportedly became entrapped. Emergency responders from the Dundee Fire Department, Dundee Ambulance, and Yates County EMS were dispatched to the scene and worked to extricate Dalbeck from her vehicle.
Dalbeck sustained head, neck, and chest injuries as a result of the crash. She was transported by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment. Her condition remains unknown at this time.
Levatino, the driver of the other vehicle, was reportedly uninjured in the accident. Following an investigation at the scene, the Yates County Sheriff’s Office issued Levatino a traffic ticket for failing to yield the right of way while making a left turn.
The New York State Police also assisted at the scene of the accident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and further updates may be released as they become available.
