The Arc held their first blood drive in 1999
From The Arc Allegany Steuben,
Wellsville, NY — The Arc Allegany Steuben was recently honored as an American Red Cross Premier Blood Partner during the Blood Program Leader Forum held on June 4, 2025, at the Greater Rochester Chapter, 825 John Street, West Henrietta.
The Premier Partner Program recognizes the top blood drive partners across the country for their outstanding commitment to helping maintain a stable community and national blood supply. It is a distinction reserved for organizations that consistently go above and beyond in their efforts to host lifesaving blood drives.
“We are proud to be named an American Red Cross Premier Blood Partner,” said Christopher Koehler, Vice President of Business Operations at The Arc Allegany Steuben and longtime Red Cross Blood Program Leader. “The Arc Allegany Steuben’s longstanding commitment to sponsoring blood drives exemplifies the spirit of caring that forms the very core of our organization’s mission.”
Since hosting its first drive in 1999, The Arc Allegany Steuben has collected over 1,800 units of blood, potentially saving up to 5,400 lives.
The organization will mark a significant milestone this summer by holding its 50th community blood drive on Friday, July 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Wellsville Bible Church, located at 2908 Andover Road, Wellsville, NY.
There are currently open donation appointments, and members of the public are warmly encouraged to participate. Interested donors can email Chris Koehler at chris.koehler@thearcas.org or sign up through the Red Cross Blood Donor App.
As a thank-you, all presenting donors will receive a customizable pair of Red Cross x goodr “Just My Type” sunglasses — because helping save lives isn’t basic, and neither are these shades.
