The Hammondsport Volunteer Fire Department is set to host its annual Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition on Friday, August 22, and Saturday, August 23, 2025. The two-day event promises plenty of food, fun, and community spirit, with proceeds supporting a worthy cause.
Festivities kick off Friday evening with team trivia at 7 p.m. for $5 per person. The contest is held in memory of Dennis Lamarche, with all proceeds donated to Burn Camp. On Saturday, the main event gets underway as pitmasters fire up their grills for a day-long BBQ showdown. Categories include chicken, pork, brisket, and a mystery challenge, with tastings available for $20 per person beginning at noon.
In addition to great food, guests can enjoy live music, beer, and plenty of family-friendly entertainment. Admission is free, but tasting tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Organizers remind attendees to leave coolers at home and come hungry for one of Hammondsport’s favorite summer traditions.
