ServU Credit Union is inviting families to enjoy an afternoon of fun and school-year preparation at its free “Gear Up for School” event on Wednesday, August 27. The celebration runs from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m. at ServU’s Penn Yan branch, located at 102 Delano Place, across from the Keuka Lake Outlet, behind Casa Mezcal, and next to Carey’s Lumber.
The event will feature a variety of family-friendly activities, including free ice cream from Seneca Farms, face painting, and a meet-and-greet with ServU’s mascot, Smarty the Owl. Children can pick up free school supplies while they last, and parents will have access to back-to-school resources and new account specials designed for families.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Department will also be on-site from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. to offer complimentary car seat safety checks. Organizers say the goal is to provide both practical support and a fun community gathering as local students get ready for the new school year.
