NAPLES, N.Y. A staff member at Naples Central School District has been placed on administrative leave after a series of social media posts about the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk drew sharp criticism from the community.
Kirk, a well-known political commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, was killed Wednesday during an event at a Utah university. Shortly after, screenshots began circulating of posts allegedly made by a district employee. The posts included profanity directed at Trump supporters and Kirk’s followers, called Kirk a Nazi, and shared an image of a shirt with the words “Is He Dead Yet?”
The employee is identified as a teacher on the district’s website. Following complaints from parents and community members, school leaders confirmed the staff member was placed on leave while the matter is reviewed.
In a statement Thursday, the district underscored its commitment to respectful dialogue and community values, writing:
“It is comforting to know the NCS community values kindness, empathy, compassion, and civility. As a district, we stand with you in doing all we can to uphold these values, which are essential to model for our students.”
Officials said no further comment will be provided until the internal investigation is complete.
