Corning Community College Awarded $150K to Strengthen Workforce Training Programs

Staff Report / September 15, 2025

CORNING, N.Y. – Corning Community College (CCC) will receive a major boost in its efforts to prepare students for in-demand careers thanks to a new $150,000 federal grant.

The funding, awarded by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), will support CCC’s ongoing multi-phase workforce development initiative. The project is designed to align training programs with the needs of local employers, ensuring graduates are ready to step directly into high-demand, good-paying jobs across the Southern Tier.

Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) welcomed the investment, emphasizing its importance for both students and area businesses. “Southern Tier companies need workers who can succeed on day one,” Langworthy said. “This grant helps Corning Community College continue building a strong talent pipeline that not only benefits students, but also fuels economic growth across our region.”

According to ARC, the grant is part of a broader strategy to expand workforce training throughout the Southern Tier and other Appalachian communities. By focusing on skills that match employer demand, the initiative aims to create long-term opportunities for students while strengthening local economies.
