CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is rolling out a new tool to gather input from residents following interactions with deputies.
Beginning this week, some community members may receive a text message survey after certain types of calls, including traffic stops, service responses, and other non-emergency encounters. The survey system is provided by My90, a platform developed by Axon, the same company that equips the department with body-worn cameras.
Sheriff David Cirencione said the effort is designed to boost trust, transparency, and communication between law enforcement and the community. “This initiative is about listening to our community,” Cirencione said. “We want to know what we’re doing well and where we can improve.”
Officials emphasized that the surveys are voluntary and intended to guide training and service improvements. They do not replace the formal complaint process, which remains available through the Sheriff’s Office website, the OntarioSheriffNY mobile app, or by calling 911 in emergencies.
