Riesling Harvest Day at KLV is set for Saturday, October 4th!
It’s always a tough call, but we’ve opted for October 4th to ensure the grapes are fully ripe for picking. So far, the grapes this year look pristine and the expected continued largely warm and dry weather should ensure a beautiful harvest. We can’t guarantee that Harvest Day will be lovely weather, but we can say that Harvest Day is loaded with camaraderie, hard work, a feast and special wines. It is an opportunity to participate in a portion of what goes into making our prize-winning wines. We look forward to a shared day with many of you!
The day includes hard work, fantastic food by Chef Chris Garlock, a special wine tasting of current and library wines (and the release of an exquisite new wine), and an exclusive discount for our pickers.
Schedule for October 4th:
11:45 am: Arrival for sign-in. Get acquainted and receive your picking shears.
Noon: Brief training session.
12:15 pm – ~4:30/5:00 pm: Grape picking! Please be prepared to stand for the duration.
After Picking (~5:00 pm): A special wine tasting. This is when you can purchase wines with an exclusive picker’s discount.
6:00 pm: A luscious harvest dinner prepared by Chef Chris Garlock, featuring spectacular local ingredients, including grape-fed venison bourguignon — a very special vegetarian (vegan) option will also be available by advance notification.
This is a ticketed event ($25 for Wine Club Members and 1 guest/ $40 for non-members), which includes the full experience: training, harvesting, tasting, and the incredible multi-course dinner. We will send additional details to all ticketholders closer to the event.
