CORNING, N.Y. – Excitement is building in the Southern Finger Lakes as the Guthrie Wineglass Marathon gears up for its 44th running on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Known for its fast, scenic course and strong community support, the marathon weekend has become one of the region’s signature events, drawing runners from across the country and beyond.
A Scenic and Fast Course
The full marathon follows a point-to-point route, beginning in Bath and traveling through several Steuben County communities before finishing in Corning’s historic Market Street district. Runners pass through Savona, Campbell, Coopers Plains, and Painted Post, with fall foliage and small-town charm setting the backdrop.
The course is widely considered one of the fastest in the Northeast, making it a favorite for athletes chasing personal records or qualifying times for the Boston Marathon. All events in the Wineglass Race Series are USATF-certified and sanctioned, ensuring an accurate and competitive racing experience.
2025 Race Schedule
Wineglass Marathon: Sunday, October 5, starting at 8:15 a.m. in Bath. Runners have 6.5 hours to complete the course.
Wineglass Half Marathon: Sunday, October 5, starting at 7:45 a.m. in Campbell. Participants must finish within 7 hours.
Wineglass 5K: Saturday, October 4, starting at 8:00 a.m. in Corning. This family-friendly event kicks off the weekend.
Wineglass 8K: Another staple of the series, offering an additional distance option for participants.
To keep race operations smooth, all full and half marathoners are required to ride shuttle buses to their respective starting lines. Race-day bib pick-up is not available.

The Wineglass Race Series is more than a sporting event — it’s a celebration of the region. Local businesses, volunteers, and spectators rally to support runners, creating a festive atmosphere along the course and in downtown Corning. The weekend also serves as a showcase for the Finger Lakes, giving visitors the chance to explore wineries, museums, and local restaurants.
