Watkins Glen, N.Y. – Visitors heading to next year’s NASCAR race at Watkins Glen International will have more options for overnight stays, as Watkins Glen State Park plans to kick off part of its 2026 camping season ahead of schedule.
State officials confirmed that two campground loops featuring 100 electric campsites will be available for reservations during the May 8–10 race weekend. The early launch is meant to support the surge of travelers expected for the event, which has been shifted to Mother’s Day weekend as part of NASCAR’s effort to better balance road course races throughout the season.
Watkins Glen International President Dawn Burlew said the early opening not only helps race fans secure lodging close to the action, but also invites more people to enjoy the natural scenery that makes the Finger Lakes region a favorite destination.
Reservations for the newly available sites open Monday, Oct. 27 at 9 a.m., by phone at 1-800-456-CAMP or through the state’s standard booking system. All other camping facilities at the park will begin their regular season the following weekend.
