Daniel R. Sims, 34, drugged the child before attack
From the Penn Yan Police Department,
Daniel R. Sims, 34, of Farmington, was arrested by Penn Yan Police following a report of a sexual assault of a 15 y/o. It is alleged that Sims, provided alcohol and drugs to the victim, then had vaginal and oral sexual contact with the victim, while the victim was under the influence and incapacitated by drugs and alcohol. Sims, who is on parole, was taken into custody by New York State Parole Officers and turned over to Penn Yan Police. Sims was charged with Rape in the 1st degree (class B Felony), Rape in the 3rd degree (class E Felony) and Facilitating a Sexual Performance of a Child with Drugs or Alcohol (class B Felony).
Sims was transported to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment in Yates County CAP court. Penn Yan Police were assisted by the Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes, the Yates County District Attorney’s Office and NYS DOCCS.
