Staff Report / March 3, 2026
The Steuben County Department of Public Works has announced the closure of a key bridge in the Town of Campbell as part of a major infrastructure upgrade set to continue through late fall.
Commissioner Eric Rose said the bridge on County Road 4 over the Cohocton River, situated between New York State Route 415 and Curtis Coopers Road, closed to all through traffic on March 2, 2026. The closure is expected to remain in effect through November 2026.
Designated as Bridge No. 004-01 (BIN 3332800), the structure will undergo a complete reconstruction. The project includes the installation of new abutments and the construction of a new bridge deck, significantly improving the safety and durability of the crossing.
County officials say the work reflects Steuben County’s ongoing commitment to maintaining dependable transportation infrastructure for residents, businesses, and travelers throughout the region.
There will be no on-site detour at the bridge location. Instead, motorists are being directed to follow a posted detour route utilizing New York State Route 415, Curtis Coopers Road, and Smith Hill Road. Detour signage will be installed by the project contractor ahead of the closure to help guide drivers safely around the work zone.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional travel time while construction is underway.
