An 18-year-old Penn Yan man is facing several felony charges following a months-long investigation into alleged sexual misconduct involving multiple underage girls.
According to the Penn Yan Police Department, officers arrested Bryan D. Mayhew, 18, of Penn Yan, after investigators determined he had inappropriate contact with three underage females. The investigation revealed incidents involving girls ages 14 and 16.
Police said Mayhew is charged with second-degree rape, third-degree rape, forcible touching, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities allege that one of the incidents involved inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old girl while at school during the 2024–2025 school year. Investigators also reported separate incidents involving two other underage girls.
Following his arrest, Mayhew was processed and later released on appearance tickets, meaning he will be required to return to court at a later date to answer the charges.
Police say the investigation took months to complete and involved multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. Additional details about upcoming court proceedings have not yet been released.
