Bath NY – A Steuben County man is facing felony charges after authorities say he unlawfully entered an apartment and took property from inside, according to local police.
Law enforcement officials reported that Warren S. Hoffman, 62, of Bath, was arrested following an investigation into a reported burglary within the village. He has been charged with second-degree burglary, a Class C felony under New York law.
Police allege that Hoffman broke into an apartment and removed items belonging to the resident. Details about how entry was gained or the total value of the stolen property have not been publicly disclosed.
Authorities did not indicate whether the apartment’s occupant was present at the time of the incident. The case appears to have been resolved quickly after officers identified Hoffman as a suspect.
Following his arrest, Hoffman was processed by police and is expected to face further legal proceedings in court. If convicted, a second-degree burglary charge can carry significant prison time due to its classification as a felony offense in New York.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not released additional details at this time.
