The United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes has announced a significant funding initiative aimed at helping local nonprofits navigate growing financial pressures.
The organization is making $1.7 million available through a newly launched Community Responsiveness Fund, which will provide rapid-response grants to health and human service agencies across the Finger Lakes region.
Eligible nonprofits in Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne, and Wyoming counties can apply for one-time grants ranging from $50,000 to $200,000. Applications opened April 1 and will remain available through April 30.
United Way officials say the funding is designed to help organizations stabilize operations as they face increased demand for services, shifting government funding, and rising administrative challenges. Many nonprofits are being forced to make difficult decisions regarding staffing and service levels amid ongoing uncertainty.
The initiative is intended to provide immediate relief rather than long-term solutions, allowing organizations to continue delivering essential services during a time of heightened need.
To assist applicants, United Way will host a virtual information session on April 10 from noon to 1 p.m., offering guidance on eligibility requirements and the application process.
