Penn Yan Police Department / April 9, 2026
Christopher C. Newcomb, 38, of Penn Yan was arrested for Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Harassment in the 2nd Degree stemming from a domestic disturbance that occurred in the village. It is alleged that on 03/26/2026 Newcomb struck the complainant in the head multiple times with his hand, pulled her hair, and prevented her from dialing 911 by taking her cell phone from her. This event occurred in the presence of a child less then seventeen years of age. Newcomb turned himself in to police custody on 03/27/2026 and he was transported to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment for the purpose of obtaining an order of protection.
