Funding will support guardianship and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities in Allegany and Steuben Counties
From the Arc Allegany-Steuben,
The Arc Allegany-Steuben, a not-for-profit organization supporting people with disabilities in Allegany and Steuben counties, has been awarded $48,732 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support Allegany-Steuben’s guardianship and recreation programs.
NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts (SNT) and pooled trusts that can make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities by enabling people to maintain financial eligibility for Medicaid and other means-tested government benefit programs. For 2026, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding funds to The Arc New York Chapters statewide.
This year, The Arc Allegany-Steuben received $30,000 to provide guardianship services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who would not otherwise have a legal guardian or advocate. Supported by Chapter associates and community volunteers, The Arc Allegany-Steuben’s Guardianship Program currently provides guardianship support and services to seven people.
NYSARC Trust Services also awarded The Arc Allegany-Steuben $18,732 to support new recreational opportunities and to enrich the lives of more than 150 athletes served through its Green Machine athletic programs. The Arc Allegany-Steuben utilizes these recreational grant funds to continue and expand its sports and athletic offerings, including bocce, bowling, softball, track and field, basketball, and dance.
