Yates County Business Leaders Trade Office Attire for Island Vibes at Annual Gala

Staff Report / July 9, 2026

YATES COUNTY – The local business community traded standard suits for floral Hawaiian shirts last month as the Yates County Chamber of Commerce gathered to toast its brightest stars. The organization rolled out the red carpet for its highly anticipated 2026 Annual Dinner, turning a gorgeous summer evening into a festive celebration of regional economic resilience and communal spirit.

Hosted on June 10 at Climbing Bines Hop Farm & Brewery, the island-themed gala was presented by Lyons National Bank.

“Every year, this dinner reminds us just how much heart goes into building a stronger Yates County,” said Chamber President Jessica Bacher. “These award winners aren’t just doing good work. They’re doing it because they genuinely care about this place.

The heart of the festivities centered on honoring the standout organizations and civic champions driving prosperity across Yates County:

Snow Memorial Spirit Award: Friends of the Outlet
Named for former Chamber Director and Tourism Committee Chair Norman Snow, this award goes to a business or organization that shows real dedication to enriching our community through volunteerism, leadership, collaboration, and engagement. This year’s honoree, Friends of the Outlet, was recognized for that same tireless community spirit.

Seager Memorial Pride Award: Dawn Shipman
Honoring former Chamber Executive Director Emily Seager, this award celebrates an individual whose positivity and encouragement lift everyone around them. Dawn Shipman was recognized for the uplifting spirit she brings to both her professional and personal life, fostering a welcoming, supportive environment wherever she goes.

Maxwell Memorial Award (Director of the Year): Kim Hughes
Named for longtime Chamber Director Robert Maxwell, this award recognizes a Chamber Director who gives generously of their time serving on committees, chairing projects, and staying an active force in the community. Kim is the Treasurer of the Board and is the Director of Finance at the New York Wine & Grape Foundation.

Linehan Memorial Business of the Year Award: Stork Insurance Agency
Named after longtime Chamber champion and former President & CEO Mike Linehan, this award recognizes a Chamber member business that consistently goes above and beyond for its customers and community. Stork Insurance Agency, serving Finger Lakes communities since 1842, was this year’s honoree.

By creating a space where regional innovators can step away from the daily grind and celebrate collective victories, the Chamber continues to fortify the collaborative network that keeps our rural economy thriving.
