The Hornell Red Raiders advanced to the Class B Quarterfinals with a 5-0 win over the Waterloo Tigers Wednesday night at Maple City Park.  The Raiders dominated the visiting Tigers, scoring 3 goals in the first half of play.  Jack Emo, Hornell’s lone scorer on the night, scored the first goal off a throw-in from 10 yards out just 11 minutes into the game.  With 15 minutes left in the first half, Demayne Dixon crossed to Emo who netted his second goal of the night.  Just before halftime, Emo dribbled around several defenders and hit a shot at the far post to put the Raiders up 3-0.  After scoring on a penalty kick, Emo rounded out the night with goal #5 with 26 minutes of play remaining.

“Jack Emo had an amazing game, scoring all five of Hornell’s goals,” said head coach Jim Tobin.  “Gennaro Picco, PJ Picco, and Demayne Dixon all added assists.”  Reflecting on the game, Tobin continued, “We had strong play from Cody Cardamone and Marco Picco; they controlled our midfield.”

The Hornell Red Raiders move on to the quarterfinals where they will face the Haverling Rams for the third time this season.  The Raiders have come out on top of both matchups with the #6 seeded Rams with a 5-3 victory at home early in the season and a 4-1 victory on the road just two weeks ago.  Hornell will host the Rams this Saturday with a scheduled start time of 6:30pm.
