Burglary, Possession of a Weapon and Reckless Endangerment Arrest

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on October 21, 2023, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Patrick J. Phillips, age 36, of Rumsey Street, Bath, New York, following an investigation of an alleged attempted entry into a dwelling with a shot fired through a residential door. It is alleged that Mr. Phillips attempted to unlawfully enter a dwelling and fired a shotgun round through the door of that dwelling before leaving in a reported stolen vehicle.
Deputies located Mr. Phillips on Nash Road in the Town of Bath, after he allegedly crashed a stolen vehicle, disarmed him, and took him into custody with the assistance of the New York State Police. Mr. Phillips was charged with Burglary in the First Degree, a class C. Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class D Felony and Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, also a class D Felony. Mr. Phillips was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail. The investigation is ongoing with several scenes being processed for evidence. Further charges are anticipated. Mr. Phillips was taken to a medical center for treatment of wounds sustained in the vehicle crash, treated and released and returned to custody.
