Bath Volunteer Fire Department / March 25, 2026
Bath NY – The Bath Volunteer Fire Department is inviting the community to step inside the world of firefighting as part of its latest recruitment effort later this spring.
In conjunction with Recruit New York Weekend, the department will hold a two-day open house on April 18 and April 19, welcoming visitors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at its station on East Morris Street.
The event is designed to give residents a hands-on look at what it means to serve as a volunteer firefighter. Attendees will be able to tour the fire station and its apparatus, try on firefighting gear, and even ride in a fire truck. Live demonstrations of firefighting techniques are also planned, offering a closer look at the skills and teamwork required in emergency response.
Organizers say the open house is not just about showcasing equipment, but about building connections and answering questions from those who may be considering joining. Current members will be on hand throughout the weekend to share their experiences and provide information about the application process.
Volunteer fire departments across New York State continue to face challenges in maintaining membership, making recruitment events like this increasingly important. Officials hope that by opening their doors and offering an interactive experience, more community members will consider stepping forward to serve.
Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend, whether they are seriously interested in volunteering or simply curious about how their local fire department operates.
