A Penn Yan resident is facing a felony charge following a reported domestic incident that prompted a response from local law enforcement earlier this week. Authorities say deputies were called to the scene during the early morning hours after receiving reports of a physical dispute involving two individuals.
Investigators allege that during the altercation, the suspect subjected another person to unwanted physical contact and at one point obstructed the victim’s breathing by covering their mouth. As a result, the man was charged with aggravated family offense, a felony, along with additional misdemeanor counts including criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment.
Following his arrest, the suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail, where he awaited arraignment in centralized court proceedings. Authorities note that the charges are accusations, and the case will proceed through the legal system as it moves toward further hearings.
