Daniel J. RUSSO, 83, of Wellsville, NY, died Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Jones Memorial Hospital. Born February 3, 1943, in Flushing, NY, he was the son of Daniel J. and Margaret Schmidt Russo.
A graduate of Holy Cross High School in Queens, he earned a degree from Villa Maria College in Buffalo.
On May 23, 1978, in North Tonawanda, he married the former Pamela A. Severance, who survives.
He served honorably with the U.S. Army for 20 years. Dan was employed as a salesman by Harris Supply in Wellsville. Community and civic-minded, he served on the boards of Wellsville Little Legue, Wellsville High School Sports Boosters, ARC, Wellsville Town Board, and served as an Allegany County Legislator. Dan coached Little League and was a member of the Wellsville Fire Department and the Wellsville Elks. Dan owned the Wellsville Nitros from 2003 – 2010.
Surviving besides his wife, Pam, are: four children, Mary (Tom) Rupczewski of Erie, PA, James (Rocheal) Russo of Fayetteville, NC, Renee (Robert) Wade of Scio, and Daniel (Kate Shea) Russo of Wellsville; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, James Russo and Thomas Russo.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Friends may call at Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, 34 West State Street, Wellsville on Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville. Memorials may be made to SPCA serving Allegany County or Wellsville Little League.
