STEUBEN COUNTY – Republican voters in several Steuben County communities cast ballots Tuesday in a series of contested primary races, selecting party nominees for town offices that will appear on the November general election ballot. Unofficial results from the Steuben County Board of Elections showed winners in races for town supervisor, town justice, town council, and highway superintendent.
In the Town of Campbell, Norman Maynard secured the Republican nomination for town supervisor, defeating Jeffrey Horton by a vote of 160 to 98. Maynard received 62 percent of the vote, while Horton garnered 38 percent. In the Town of Corning, Wendalyn VanZile won the Republican primary for town justice, receiving 134 votes, or 58 percent, compared to Randy Dye’s 94 votes.
Voters in the Town of Erwin selected Heather Ford as the Republican nominee for town council. Ford captured 178 votes, or 61 percent, to defeat Alisa Troccia, who received 109 votes. In Lindley, Patrick Clark won the Republican nomination for town supervisor with 145 votes, representing 76 percent of ballots cast, while Roger Reep Jr. received 44 votes.
Lindley Republicans also chose Dylan Hill as their nominee for highway superintendent. Hill received 122 votes, or 66 percent, defeating Carlos Plumley II, who earned 64 votes. In Rathbone, Kevin Clark prevailed in the Republican primary for town council, defeating Mary Catherine Cole by a margin of 53 votes to 21.
Unofficial results from Tuesday’s primary election will be certified following the canvassing of absentee, affidavit, and other eligible ballots by local boards of elections.
