AUBURN – Following a sudden influx of animals entering its doors, the Greater Cayuga SPCA is turning to local animal lovers for an immediate boost in essential supplies.
The shelter’s resources have been stretched thin as staff and volunteers work to care for the recent wave of rescued pets. To keep operations running smoothly and ensure both resident animals and community pets stay nourished and comfortable, administrative staff have released a targeted wish list of high-priority everyday items.
Supplies can be dropped off directly at the shelter’s primary facility, located at 41 York Street, during regular operating hours.
The SPCA is currently asking the public for donations across several key operational categories:
- Feline Care & Kitten Supplies: Tidy Cats non-clumping litter, pelleted litter, wet kitten food (preferably pate style), Royal Canin Baby Cat pate, and Churu treat tubes.
- Canine Enrichment & Training: Soft chew or freeze-dried training treats, 15-to-20-foot long leads, and hot dogs (used for high-value motivation and training exercises).
- Sanitation & Facility Operations: Powder-free gloves, hand sanitizer, and boxes of facial tissues.
- Community Assistance: General cat food to help restock the SPCA’s pet food pantry, which assists local families facing financial hardship.
