THROOP – A Monday off-road accident in Cayuga County left two people injured, requiring emergency medical transport and a helicopter airlift to a regional trauma center.
Responders from the Throop Fire Department and Auburn City Ambulance were dispatched to Donovan Road following emergency reports of an ATV crash involving two individuals. Upon arriving at the scene, emergency crews evaluated the victims and determined that one patient had sustained a serious head injury requiring rapid, specialized medical intervention at a higher-level facility.
To expedite medical care, first responders called for a Life Net air ambulance. Members of the neighboring Aurelius Fire Department quickly mobilized to set up a helicopter landing zone near their fire station to facilitate the emergency transfer.

- Critical Air Transport: The patient with the head injury was airlifted directly via Life Net to a Syracuse trauma facility for immediate treatment.
