BATH NY – The Steuben County 4-H community gathered to celebrate another outstanding year of accomplishments during the 2026 4-H Achievement Night, welcoming 170 youth, families, volunteers, and supporters for an evening dedicated to recognizing learning, leadership, and service.
Achievement Night honored 4-H members of all ages for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. The celebration began by recognizing first-year 4-H members as they embark on their 4-H journey, followed by youth who represented Steuben County and New York State through state and national 4-H competitions, conferences, and leadership opportunities.
The evening also celebrated members who exemplify the values of the 4-H program through Leadership Awards and the prestigious Outstanding 4-H’er Awards. These recognitions highlight youth who demonstrate exceptional growth, responsibility, leadership, citizenship, and dedication to their clubs and communities.
A truly unforgettable moment of the evening was the recognition of Phyllis Rathbun, whose remarkable 75 years of volunteer service have left an immeasurable impact on the Steuben County 4-H program. Surrounded by generations of 4-H members, volunteers, families, and friends, the evening paid tribute to her extraordinary legacy of mentorship, encouragement, and unwavering commitment to youth development. Her decades of service have helped shape countless young lives and stand as a shining example of the lasting difference one dedicated volunteer can make.
Volunteers were also recognized for their years of service, celebrating the individuals whose time, talents, and dedication continue to make meaningful 4-H experiences possible. Their commitment serves as the foundation of a program that empowers youth to discover their passions, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and make positive contributions to their communities.
Steuben County 4-H extends its congratulations to all award recipients and sincere appreciation to the volunteers, families, sponsors, and community partners whose continued support makes these opportunities possible. As the program looks ahead to another year of growth, Achievement Night served as a powerful reminder that while projects and accomplishments are celebrated, the true success of 4-H is measured by the lives it helps shape and the lasting legacy of those who dedicate themselves to its mission.
