Explore how Hunt Country Vineyards pioneers sustainability in the wine industry as an IWCA micro-winery member, promoting global decarbonization efforts.
Hunt Country is featured in a story on IWCA micro-wineries!
In March, International Wines for Climate Action (IWCA) made it possible for smaller wineries — “micro-wineries” — to apply for affiliation. the drinks business magazine took a look at what the move means for inclusivity in the increasingly complex world of sustainable certification. And they spoke with co-owner Suzanne Hunt for her thoughts about the change because Hunt Country is one of two micro-wineries currently involved with IWCA.
“I think it’s fantastic that the IWCA created the micro-winery membership option for small family wineries that are doing the work to reduce their emissions, but don’t have either the staff bandwidth, or the volume of sales to justify the higher fees,” she says.
International Wineries for Climate Action is a working group taking collective action to decarbonize the global wine industry. Hunt Country Vineyards was the first winery in New York state to become an applicant member of IWCA. Learn more about IWCA
