A Yates County woman has been charged in connection with the tragic death of her five-month-old child.
On March 20th, emergency responders rushed to a residence in the village of Dundee after receiving a report of an unresponsive infant. Despite immediate medical attention at the scene and subsequent transport to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, the child was pronounced deceased.
Following a thorough investigation, 34-year-old Samantha Crane of Dundee was arrested on Thursday and charged with felony criminally negligent homicide.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, criminally negligent homicide is defined as causing the death of another person through a reckless disregard for human life.
Crane was arraigned on the charge and is currently being held at the Yates County Jail. Further details about the investigation have not been released at this time.
