The Montour Falls Fire Department is set to receive a significant boost, thanks to a $600,000 state grant to upgrade its facilities and equipment.
The Village of Montour Falls Fire Department is set to receive a significant boost thanks to a generous state grant. The department has been awarded over $600,000 to fund much-needed infrastructure improvements.
The funds, part of a larger $25 million state initiative to support volunteer fire departments, will be used to replace the fire department’s aging roof and prepare it for the installation of solar panels. This upgrade will not only enhance the department’s facilities but also contribute to environmental sustainability.
This news comes on the heels of another recent development for the department: the acquisition of a brand-new fire engine. The new engine, which replaces a 2001 pumper truck, cost over $828,000. The department raised over $27,000 through community support to help offset the cost.
To celebrate these improvements and offer the community a chance to see the new fire engine firsthand, the Montour Falls Fire Department will be hosting an open house on Tuesday, November 12th, at 6 PM at the firehouse.
