Five Southern Tier counties will receive federal funding to enhance public safety, cybersecurity, and preparedness against terrorism and emergencies.
Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler, Tompkins, and Tioga Counties are beneficiaries of a federal initiative aimed at bolstering counterterrorism and emergency readiness across New York State.
The funding amounts vary by county: Chemung County will receive $145,106; Steuben County, $110,965; Schuyler County, $46,946; Tioga County, $59,750; and Tompkins County, $98,160, according to New York State officials.
This funding is part of a larger $220 million federal investment supporting public safety programs across New York. It can be used for a range of initiatives, including securing public spaces, combating domestic extremism, strengthening cybersecurity and election security, and fostering community preparedness.
