A catastrophic fire swept through the Village of Ovid Tuesday evening, leaving a trail of destruction as it leaped from building to building along Main Street.
The blaze reportedly began around 6:30 p.m. in an apartment located above the Big M grocery store. The flames quickly consumed the structure, leading to its collapse. Nearby, the Uptown Diner also succumbed to the inferno, with firefighters unable to save the building before it too collapsed.
Emergency crews from multiple fire departments were on the scene battling the relentless flames late into the night. As of the latest updates, the fire remained uncontained, continuing to threaten additional structures in the area.
