The grant program, overseen by the Yates County Planning Department, supports initiatives that promote, preserve, and expand the county’s natural and recreational resources.
Keuka Lake Level Management Study – Yates County Soil & Water Conservation District
Allocated $7,500, this project focuses on developing a predictive lake-level response modeling tool and conducting a feasibility analysis of the Penn Yan Gates. The goal is to mitigate shoreline flooding, improve downstream ecological conditions, and streamline lake management operations.
Youth Lacrosse Storage Facility – Penn Yan Youth Lacrosse
Receiving $10,000, Penn Yan Youth Lacrosse plans to construct a new storage facility to replace the existing deteriorating structure at the Lacrosse Box. This upgrade aims to reduce financial strain on the organization and provide secure equipment storage for young athletes in the county.
Spring Street Park Handicap Sidewalk – Village of Dundee
The Village of Dundee has been granted $9,754 to build a sidewalk connecting the Spring Street parking area to a wheelchair-accessible swing, continuing to the pavilion, and ending at benches along Big Stream. This project seeks to improve park accessibility, allowing individuals of all abilities to enjoy the park’s amenities.
Keuka Outlet Trail Seneca Mill Falls Site Access Improvements Design Phase – Friends of the Outlet
Awarded $3,979, Friends of the Outlet will undertake professional design work, topographic surveys, pre-permitting activities, and joint permit applications to prepare for future enhancements. This initial phase aims to create a shovel-ready project that will offer long-term benefits to Yates County residents.
Village Park Phase II Accessibility – Village of Rushville
With a grant of $17,160, the Village of Rushville intends to construct a perimeter stone dust trail and a pedestrian bridge over the West River. This development is a significant step toward making the park fully accessible, ensuring all visitors can safely enjoy its recreational features.
Indian Pines Park Safe and Secure Playground – Village of Penn Yan
The Village of Penn Yan has been allocated $35,607 to enhance safety and security at the Indian Pines Park playground. Plans include installing fencing to create a secure, enclosed play area where families and children of all abilities can gather and play safely.
