Parts of Route 36 and Banks Hollow Road are closed

BATH, NY — The Steuben County Office of Emergency Services reports that heavy rainfall on Monday evening caused flooding in the southwestern corner of Steuben County, affecting the Towns of Canisteo, Greenwood, Hartsville, Hornellsville, Jasper and Woodhull. The storm led to water flowing along and over several roadways, prompting immediate response from local first responders and Local, County, and State Highway crews.
Crews are actively working overnight in some areas and into Tuesday to assess damage and conduct necessary repairs to ensure roadway safety and restore access.
As of this release, the following roadways are closed due to flooding and damage:
- State Route 36 between the Village of Canisteo Line and Red Spring Run Road
- Banks Hollow Road between State Route 417 and County Route 63
Motorists are urged to avoid these areas and to use caution if travel is necessary overnight.
The Steuben County Office of Emergency Services will continue to monitor conditions and issue updates as needed.
