CCE of Steuben County to Host Free Tree Fruit Pest Management Event at Crooked Line Farm & Orchard

July 26 in Bath NY, registration is required

From CCE Steuben County,

Bath, NY – Later this month, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County (CCE Steuben) will host a free educational event discussing economically significant tree fruit pests. The event will be held at Crooked Line Farm & Orchard, 7780 Cold Springs Road in Bath, NY on Saturday, July 26 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. CCE Steuben invites all who are interested in learning more about how to manage pests on their fruit trees. Those who attend the event are eligible to receive 1.5 New York State Department of Environmental Conservation pesticide credits in categories 1A, 22, and 10.

Anna Wallis, Fruit Integrated Pest Management Coordinator, and Elizabeth Lamb, Ornamental Integrated Pest Management Coordinator, from Cornell Integrated Pest Management (Cornell IPM) will be onsite at Crooked Line Farm & Orchard to discuss key insects and diseases in tree fruits with attention paid to identification and damage caused by the pests. Event attendees can expect to learn about pest scouting and management as well as biocontrol basics including identification of common beneficial insects and how to encourage them in orchards.
